- What is Eye Donation Certificate ?
An Eye Donation Certificate is a letter of intent with the name, address and signature stating that, at the hospital where our eyes are receiving after death will be operated on by the eye-bank medical officers or doctor and used in a manner appropriate for medical purposes.

- Who can donate an eye
Eyes can be donated at any age. Gender-neutral everyone can donate eyes. Eye donation can be done even if you wearing glasses and have had eye surgery before.
- How to get an eye donation certificate?
All you have to do is go to any eye bank and fill in the cornea consent form and give it there. Online Registration Can be used. After death eye donation is not simply possible by registering manual/ online and holding the certificate. Filling out the eye donation certificate and registering the eye donation is only part of the awareness. After the death, eye donation can be done only with the permission of the relatives. Therefore, express your desire to donate eyes to your relatives and keep the certificate of donation at home. Relatives will be able to remember your wish after death.
- Do take our eyes off while we are alive?
Never . Only after death. Consent is never taken for granted while we are alive.
- Will the body become deformed?
No. After removing the eyes there is a plastic eye got replaced there.
- What are the causes of death for which eye donation is not possible?
Suicide, AIDS, Cancer, Jaundice Infection and Rabbis.
- How long should the eyes be taken after death ?
Eyes are taken within two hours after death and the most effective can be up to four hours. After six hours it will be useless
- How long can the eyes taken from an eye donor be kept without eye donation surgery?
Normally up to 24 hours but up to 72 hours is possible if kept in MK medium.
- Things Relatives Should Know After Death ?
- The person who died as soon as the death was confirmed, Inform the medical team about the deceased of the name, age, address and time of death. The body does not have to be brought to the hospital. Doctor will come there along with medical team and equipment’s and will do the necessaries .It’s better to someone go and pick the doctor and medical team.
- Raise deceased donor head slightly. Place a damp cloth over both eyelids and turn off the fan.
- Close relatives of the deceased eye donor express their permission in writing and sign the papers produced by the medical team.
- Submitting a photograph of the deceased eye donor to the medical team to receive an eye donation certificate and later receiving the certificate will be an inspiration to others.
